This is the first time Google released the code behind the operating system for tablets. Previously, the code drafters Android Honeycomb is not released to the public.
Source code is released to the public an opportunity to create a Custom ROM pengoprek. Usually used for experiments as well as to improve system performance in existing devices on the market.
Not as usual, the code drafters Android Ice Cream Sandwich issued prior to any device that uses the operating system on the market. That is, pengoprek community have the opportunity to learn it early.
In theory, Android 4.0.1 release also contains the code for Android Honeycomb. However, Google deliberately does not give special mark which part of the Honeycomb and which part Ice Cream Sandwich.
"This release includes all the existing version before (history) from the Android source code tree, which means also includes source code for Honeycomb. But, because we think it is somewhat incomplete Honeycomb, with that we want everyone to focus on the Ice Cream Sandwich , "said Jean-Baptiste Queru, Software Engineer, Android Open-Source Project, Google.
